Photograms contain objects or materials that are placed on light sensitive paper. They are then exposed to reveal the positive of the image as negative. Meaning what was once object is now the white, lightest part of the picture. The materials have been inverted. I combine objects with oils and ointments to create these prints. The light reflected within the liquids produce unexpected illusions and shadows that are in turn mirrored onto the paper. Through the idea of cliche verre, I create my own negative by painting onto transparency. This sheet is then placed underneath the oils. Once dry, I etch into the prints and fill the holes with oil pastel, adding color and a slight dimension to the monoprint.
