The phrase “The journey is the destination” was put to good use in this project. Roads, tunnels and trails are documented, and then regurgitated as animations to tell a part of the journey. Some of these were recorded in the passenger seat of a moving car (Flow), or walking abruptly through a city street that looks like every other city street (Inheritance). These animations shift in and out of abstraction, to a daydream mode that I often relate to in the passenger seat, when not experiencing motion sickness (I-676). All of these videos maintain a passageway or passage through. In these videos the viewer is in a constant state of arriving.
